Refrigerator Repair and Service

You come home from a long day of work excited to grab a nice, cold drink out of the fridge and dig into the delicious leftovers your partner made you the other day. You’ve been looking forward to this all day because your boss was hounding you and you just couldn’t get that paperwork right. You open the fridge, and instantly notice that something is wrong: Everything is warm and smelly. You check the circuit breaker, wondering if maybe a wire got tripped, but no, it’s fine. What isn’t fine is your $1700 smart refrigerator and the food you were ready to dig into.

Do You Have A Refrigerator That Needs To Be Serviced?

Don’t believe us? Check out these common FAQs for refrigerators and we’ll tell you what you can do to fix yours:
• We were remodeling our house and someone told us not to put our refrigerator against the wall. We wanted to save space, but were they right?
• What will happen if we decide to put our refrigerator in the garage?
• I’ve had it with my old refrigerator! It’s time to throw this clunking hunk of junk out. Where do I take it?
• I can’t step foot in the kitchen without my socks getting wet because my refrigerator is leaking water everywhere. How do I make it stop?
Yes and no. Your refrigerator can be put against the wall if there isn’t a metal grid on the back of it. However, if you do see a metal grid, be sure to leave 1” of space between it and the wall. This will ensure that proper airflow makes it in and out of the refrigerator, and it prevents overheating.
Again, it depends on the type of refrigerator. If it self-defrosts, and the temperature in your garage goes below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil in the refrigerator could thicken and cause premature compression failure. But, as long as you maintain the proper temperature, it should be fine.
o You could take it to your local landfill; but, if you do this, make sure you have the refrigerant evacuated first. Premier Appliances can help you do that. Alternatively, there are some companies, like BGE, who offer a small amount of money for recycling your old refrigerator. Or, if it still works you could donate it. There’s also options to sell it to a scrapyard or list it for online sale to someone who might want to use it for parts or fix it up. At the end of the day, what you do with your refrigerator is up to you. Call Premier Appliance if you need further instructions.
